The Library is Open
So I've started watching RuPaul's Drag Race. And by watch, I mean knit-an-entire-sweater-binge watch. My S.O.was out of town last week and I watched all of Season 6. (I have thoughts if any one wants to message me and have a little conversation about it ... 4 years late.)
I was pretty neutral about starting the show when my BFF recommended it to me. I didn't really understand the culture behind it or really how it differed from cross-dressing. HONEY. It is so much more than that. Drag Queens are performance artists in the most exciting way. They become another human (in this case, a female) in a beautiful, fun, raunchy expression of that person. They create brand around this persona. They have to be true to this persona in every facet of their drag: in their fashion, acting, singing, comedy etc. Their creativity, ingenuity, and fearlessness simultaneously floors and inspires me. I've also gotten SO many new vocabulary words I ADORE (... DeLano should have won just saying).
Anyhoo, I digress. My point is that I knit the majority of a sweater watching the last season and I can't wait to share it with you all! And therefore, it should come as no surprise that the name of the pattern will be derived from this show.
I've decided to name this cozy, generous-collar-with-the-old-school-professor vibe, "The Library is Open" cardigan. While this pattern may still be a bit of the way off (maths and test knitters are essential) stay tuned for a new, perfect, broken rib, roll top hat pattern that is just what everyone on your life needs for the chilly holidays. Name to come!
Thanks for reading, stitches. Now, the time has come for me to knit swatches ... FOR. MY. LIFE. (Please, someone get this reference. Please.)
